The Hungarian government has given final approval to requirements for picture warnings on packages of smoked tobacco products. These requirements for at least cigarettes will come into force at the manufacturer level on September 1, 2012. The picture warnings to be required are taken from the European Union image library.

The decree depicts 42 warnings in total. It appears that there will be three sets of 14 warnings.
Hungary will be one of nine EU countries to require picture warnings, joining Belgium, France, Ireland,Latvia, Malta, Romania, Spain, and the United Kingdom. There are at least 45 countries/jurisdictions worldwide requiring picture warnings for cigarette packages.
